From the Desk of the AAGL President – Announcing the Latest AAGL Practice Report
May 17, 2017
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the Practice Committee for their dedicated work on the new Practice Guidelines on Intrauterine Adhesions, Developed in Collaboration With the European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE), a joint publication that is now accessible through both the JMIG and Gynaecological Surgery. We are extremely appreciative of the commitment made to bring new best practices to our members. For more on this project, please read the following statement from Dr. Jason Abbott, Practice Committee Chair.
“This is both the first revised AAGL guideline, and the first to be written in conjunction with a partner organization – the European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE). Clinicians look to practice guidelines to affirm their current practice and shape future directions, and this collaboration brings expertise from around the globe to highlight the evidence for intrauterine adhesion management. With both primary and secondary prevention of intrauterine adhesions having been assessed by randomized controlled trials, the gains in this area are important for patient management. Perhaps more so is the alliance between two great societies, with representatives from 10 countries appraising the evidence to bring practical, science-driven guidance for our members wherever they are. Dissemination of this Practice Guideline would not have been possible without the collegiate spirit of Elsevier and Springer publishing houses who have allowed dual simultaneous publication for all to read. Thanks to all contributors and here’s to many more collaborations to follow.”
