AAGL MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Gynecologic endoscopy is now being utilized for many different procedures that were once exclusively done by open surgery. Recognized for the advantages it holds over open surgery such as minimized scarring, lower blood loss, decreased post-operative pain, and generally reduced recovery time, endoscopy is enjoying an ever growing following of surgeons. Exciting new advanced in endoscopy and its associated benefits continue to expand the bounds of gynecologic surgical care. Endoscopy is ready to answer the call for more efficient, effective, and economical methods of treatment.

In addition to its treatment capabilities, endoscopy can play a role in the emphasis on illness prevention. As a diagnostic tool, endoscopy is unparalleled in its ability to permit the physician visual examination of internal organs and to remove tissue samples or scar tissue without presenting major trauma to the patient. By detecting and treating conditions early before they can deteriorate, the quality of life can be substantially improved.
