Residents & Fellows

The AAGL strongly believes in supporting the ob/gyn resident- and fellow-in-training. We realize that the sooner physicians are exposed to endoscopy, the sooner they ascend the learning curve to become proficient endoscopic surgeons throughout their careers.

The AAGL nurtures resident and fellow development in many ways. The "Excellence in Residency" program seeks to develop surgeons by identifying those with a talent for endoscopy and providing them free membership in the AAGL. These residents are selected by the department chairs of residency programs from all over the world. All the various symposiums, workshops and congresses held by the AAGL are open to residents at significantly reduced rates. At these courses, they can learn tips, techniques and experiences of many world-renowned laparoscopists and hysteroscopists. The AAGL also has courses and events tailored for residents and fellows. Our Annual Comprehensive Workshop on Minimally Invasive Gynecology for Residents and Fellows immerses them in two-day lectures and labs on the fundamentals of endoscopic surgery. At the AAGL Annual Meeting, a "Special Interest Luncheon" is held, focusing on topics and issues of importance to residents and fellows.

Participating in the AAGL is an excellent way for a resident or fellow to develop his or her endoscopic skills and experience. Studying and discussing surgery with the best in the world can help rapidly advance one's knowledge and develop a network of relations.

Membership

• Full Membership: For an annual cost of the $110 you receive full member benefits including a print subscription to The Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology.
   
• Full Membership as a member of an affiliated society: If you are a member of your country's society that is officially affiliated with the AAGL, you can enroll for Full Membership at a reduced rate of $95. You receive full benefits of membership including a print subscription of The Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology.
   
• Electronic Only Membership: At no cost, you can become a member of AAGL for the duration of your residency. When you choose this option you receive a subscription to The Journal via the internet. You can view all articles in current and past issues of The Journal without a "pay-per-view" charge. You will also be eligible for reduced Member pricing on AAGL publications, books, workshops and the annual Global Congress of Minimally Invasive Gynecology.
