Council on Gynecologic Excellence (CGE)
The Council of Gynecologic Excellence, formerly known as the Accreditation Council for Gynecologic Endoscopy (ACGE), retrospectively reviews physician’s case lists and randomly selected operative and pathology reports. Those physicians whose case list support the types of surgery they are performing are included as members and listed in the registry.
There are currently over 1100 physicians registered with the CGE. Surgeons who consider themselves gynecological endoscopic surgeons and can demonstrate sufficient case documentation may apply to be included in the registry.
The mission of the Council of Gynecologic Excellence (CGE) is to identify endoscopic surgeons and to encourage high standards for gynecologic endoscopy and minimally invasive surgeons, and the institutions at which they practice. Additionally, the CGE is responsible for the COEMIG designation program, which is available to surgeons, hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers around the world that provide minimally invasive gynecologic surgical care on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
