WATCH ON DEMAND: Vaginal Hysterectomy with Dr. Rosanne Kho (Moderated by Dr. Javier Magrina)
On July 25th, 2013, Dr. Rosanne Kho presented a live discussion and Q&A session regarding a vaginal hysterectomy case on SurgeryU HD.
This pre-recorded surgery will focus on the surgical principles in performing a vaginal hysterectomy which include maximizing exposure, recognition of anatomic structures and spaces, achieving hemostasis, prevention of bladder and ureteral injury and support of the vaginal cuff. Emphasis will be provided on available technologies and techniques to facilitate a difficult case.
This is a 50 yo with a fibroid uterus who presented with heavy bleeding and secondary anemia (hemoglobin of 7.6gm/dL). The patient has failed previous medical therapy and is seeking definitive surgery.
Dr Rosanne Kho received her medical degree from Tulane Medical School and her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training from Mayo Clinic. After a 3-year fellowship program in Urogynecology, she stayed on staff at the Mayo Clinic in AZ where she is Associate Professor and Fellowship Program Director of the MIGS program. She has published on different aspects of gynecologic surgery and currently serves as Senior Editor for JMIG. One of Dr Kho’s passions is in teaching vaginal surgery. She organized the first cadaveric hands-on workshop in vaginal hysterectomy for AAGL Congress in 2011. She has also lead multiple teams over the last 10 years to remote areas internationally, performing vaginal surgery so that women could benefit from this minimally invasive approach.
