Description:

Considering this difficult moment of the COVID pandemic, colleagues from all over the world are facing the uncertainties of the pathogenesis of the disease, the effects of the aerosolization during laparoscopy, the use of the best tests to diagnose patients with COVID-19 before the surgical treatments, and the possible use of new devices or even new therapies for the treatment of this infection. Recently we organized webinars attended by colleagues focused on different aspects of the COVID-19 impacting our clinical and surgical practice. This webinar will discuss the lessons of the future: how innovation can be helpful to create solutions for this difficult moment and be able to help patients and doctors from around the world.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to: 1) discuss the primary needs for doctors and patients after the COVID-19 pandemic; 2) discuss the most recent studies on the pathogenesis of this infection and the impact on our practice; 3) discuss the future on the diagnosis of the disease and how the future of the diagnosis can be more effective on helping us to be safer and more effective; and 4) illustrate current and future possible devices and new treatments that can help surgeons to treat patients with or without COVID-19.
