This webinar provides an overview of how specialists and subspecialists of various disciplines (Infections Disease, Anesthesiology, Obstetrics and Perinatology, Gynecologic Oncology, and Reproductive Endocrinology) work together to best serve patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, patients who are under investigation (PUI), and patients of unknown COVID status who require emergent, urgent, or semi-urgent obstetric and gynecologic procedures. Additionally, the faculty will review current recommendations to protect all caregivers, including PPE and prophylaxis, for those who provide care to COVID+ patients and PUIs. As the diagnosis and management of COVID patients are rapidly evolving, our experts will present up-to-date, evidence-based information in a brief slide presentation and round table/question and answer discussion format on how to address our patients during the surge of COVID-19 and how we proceed with resuming practice as the prevalence of COVID-19 decreases but remains a viable concern.
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to: 1) Discuss the best available evidence-based practice for diagnosis of COVID-19, including available tests for symptomatic patients and patients under investigation or with unknown status, who require OBGYN procedures; 2) Discuss the current recommendations for therapy for and prophylaxis against developing COVID-19 for asymptomatic and symptomatic COVID-19+ patients and patients of unknown COVID-19 status, respectively, who require essential OBGYN procedures; and 3) Demonstrate recommended PPE for all caregivers involved in OBGYN patient care focusing on obstetric patients and patients with gynecologic malignancies, endometriosis, or infertility.
