About the Foundation of the AAGL (FAAGL)

Mission Statement
The purpose of the Foundation of the AAGL is to fund the development and application of emerging technologies to the benefit of gynecologic health care for women. The use of these technologies consistently results in improved diagnostic precision, surgical safety, and minimal corporeal invasion. The Foundation supports continued progress in the field of minimally invasive gynecology by providing scholarships, teaching grants, and financial support to worthy research and by creating periodic awards for scientific accomplishments.

History
The Foundation fo the AAGL was established in 1993 as a natural outgrowth of the parent organization.  Since its inception, the AAGL has been dedicated to the development and advancement of innovative minimally invasive techniques in gynecology, beginning with its pioneering application of endoscopy. Progress has continued through the years with enhancements in microsurgery, hysteroscopy and laparoscopic-assisted hysterectomy as well as nonsurgical techniques, all serving the AAGL mission of providing women with the least invasive solutions to gynecologic problems.  The Foundation of the AAGL speeds such progress by encouraging scientific research and education.
